Paradigm Shift

“The list of health problems I think it would very hard to live with is SO much longer than the list of foods I previously thought I couldn’t live without,” Merrill Alley.

little angels

This week I get to teach my little angels more about Jesus. "We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost." AoF 4One might think this is a lot for sixes to grasp. But they all understand grasp it pretty quickly. They understand what it means to believe in Jesus Christ. Being little children, they've all experienced saying sorry. We just expand that idea to include thinking about our day, remembering wrongdoing, saying and meaning sorry in our prayers every night, and trying to do better next time. Most of them have seen a baptism by immersion by one in authority. We teach more about what a covenant is and what their side of the covenant means. Testify of Jesus. Become a member of Jesus church. Promise to serve others. Strive to live Jesus' commandments. We then talk about what it means to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. All are given the spirit or light of Christ at birth, which is the conscience, the ability to discern right from wrong. Many receive manifestations of the Holy Ghost, which are personal inspirations but not continual companionship. The gift of the Holy Ghost allows one to have inspirations, comfort, and constant help from the Holy Ghost. But this gift can be lost if one sins without repentance. It sounds pretty hard, but I teach with finger puppets, picture books, flannel board stories, art projects, songs, and so forth. We have so much fun and feel the gentle presence of the Holy Ghost in our little class.
